Frequently Asked Questions
Is MindAlign Counselling currently accepting new clients?
Yes, we are! Please contact us to schedule your first session or to arrange a free 15-minute phone or video consultation.
How frequently should I attend counselling sessions?
The frequency of counselling sessions depends on various factors such as your financial situation, schedule, counsellor availability, and your specific counselling goals. Many clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, but ultimately, the choice is yours. We may offer recommendations based on your current circumstances, but the final decision is always up to you.
Do you see clients in-person or virtually?
Both! Many clients also opt for a combination of in-person and virtual sessions to optimize convenience.
Can I claim sessions with you on my extended benefits?
If you are covered for a registered clinical counsellor under your insurance plan, then yes! Many plans offer partial- to full-coverage for counselling sessions. We do not currently offer direct billing and ask that you pay for sessions upfront and submit receipts to your insurance provider thereafter.
What are the fees for your counselling sessions?
Our fees are as follows: a 15-minute initial consultation is free, and a 55-minute session costs $155.
Do you provide consultations for new clients?
Absolutely! We understand that feeling comfortable with your therapist is crucial for a successful counselling experience. That's why we offer complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultations for new clients. If you're not ready to commit to a full session, please contact us to book a consultation and see if we're a good fit for you.
What should I expect from trauma therapy?
We understand that trauma therapy can seem daunting. Our approach is to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment to assist you in your healing journey. In your initial sessions, you'll work with a compassionate counsellor who will take the time to understand your unique experiences and concerns. You can expect a personalized plan that respects your pace and comfort level. We use various theories and techniques tailored to your needs, and we will adapt as necessary throughout our work together. Techniques may include talk therapy, emotion-focused therapy, internal family systems therapy, and other evidence-based practices aimed at addressing trauma at its root. Our goal is to equip you with coping mechanisms, foster resilience, and support you in developing a safe relationship with yourself as you navigate your journey towards your most authentic self.
